Seagull User Conference Hamburg 2006

Seagull has a large range of CBTs in their library and provides training material to approximately 5000 vessels. These training modules and on-board courses are continually being increased, updated and improved in response to customer requirements and feedback. Seagull AS co-operates with Newslink in Cyprus/India and Green–Jakobsen AS in Denmark, in the development of additional training modules and also works closely with other marine companies to provide a high quality and realistic training package.

Seagull AS annually arranges User Conferences for their customers at various locations around the world (Singapore, Greece, United States, UK, Germany, Cyprus and Norway). The purpose of these Conferences is to build a closer relationship with and between their customers and create an opportunity to meet and discuss different training issues.
On the 31st of October 2006, Seagull AS held a User Conference in Hamburg and it was attended by 24 participants from different shipping-companies, directorates, schools and training centres in Europe.

The conference commenced with a short updating introduction of what Seagull AS had achieved since the last Conference. The next item was a short description of the exciting new range of modules in the increasingly important aspect of Soft-skill (Management) training from Erik Green from Green-Jakobsen AS, whom Seagull have been working closely with over the last months.  This was an item that created considerable interest and discussions by the participants. Seagull also talked about the outsourcing of the administration of training activities, a service that they provide and also their Competence Evaluation System (CES) and how it could be used at recruitment and promotion of sea staff. The conference ended by Seagull giving a short description of their new products and products under development.

The participants appeared to be very pleased with the event and considered it a great success, “a particularly useful User Conference” and Seagull is already looking forward to the next one in Germany for their customers.
