Seagull Introduces Onboard INS Training Course

Understanding how to use an Integrated Navigation System is extremely important for today’s officers.  In fact, it is anticipated that National Authorities will soon require INS training, just as they currently mandate other navigational equipment training (ARPA, ECDIS, etc).

Seagull’s onboard INS training course combines a series of practical exercises and questions with several Seagull CBT programs (#5 - ISM code, #26 – Voyage planning, #59 - GPS, #64 - ECDIS, #103 – INS Integrated Navigation System and # 109 – AIS).  This coordinated combination of study materials and hands-on exercises develops the required theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to use an Integrated Navigation System effectively and safely onboard a vessel.

A Procedure Guide steers participants through this training, where the main subjects are:

-An introduction to Integrated Navigation Systems
-Practical uses of Integrated Navigation Systems
-ECDIS
-Chart accuracy
-Route planning
-Voyage planning
-Route programming and evaluation
-AIS
-Satellite navigation'

Participants are required to send all CBT results, as well as exercise reports and answers from the Procedure Guide, to Seagull AS for verification.  Seagull then issues a Certificate of Competence to those who have successfully completed the course.
