New Onboard Course!
Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) is our latest onboard training course that addresses the upcoming VOC training requirements. The VOC course consists of a workbook with a comprehensive theoretical section and relevant exercises. We have also decided to develop a CBT on VOC, which will be completed later this year. When this module is in place the majority of the text in the workbook will be replaced by the CBT.
“VOC are organic chemicals that easily vaporize at room temperature. They are called organic because they contain the element carbon in their molecular structures. VOCs have no color, smell, or taste. VOCs include a very wide range of individual substances, such as hydrocarbons (for example benzene and toluene), halocarbons and o
xygenates.”
The objective of this course is to enable officers onboard to perform successful operation of the VOC plants installed on board the tankers. The course enables the officers to have sufficient theoretical and practical training in order to safeguard the full operation of the VOC plant both seen from a safety and an environmental point of view.
The VOC Product Sheet is available here.
