Seagull update the SSO Workbook !

Customers using the Ship Security Officer (SSO) onboard training course should know that we from 01.05.2009, will require documentation in accordance with STCW Regulation VI/5 - 1.1 from the candidates, before we issue the SSO certificate of proficiency on behalf of the Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD).
This will affect all new applications and upgrade of the SSO certificate of competence issued before 01.01.2008.
The verification for sea service must be included in the application sent to Seagull, or we cannot issue the SSO certificate of proficiency.
The approved documentation is:
Senior officer:
- Valid deck/engine certificate.
Junior officer:
- Copy of seaman’s book verifying at least 12 month sea service.

1. Every candidate for a certificate of proficiency as ship security officer shall:
.1 have approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations.
